The model IT542 Impact shares the same features as the model IT406 except that it has an available energy of 542J (400ft.lbf). The IT542 is also supplied complete with automatic motorized return and digital display.

The model IT 542 provides maximum testing versatility. Easy insertion of interchangeable strikers in the pendulum head quickly adapts the machine for either Charpy or Izod testing. Two studs on the rear of the pendulum head allow optional tooling to be attached for performing tension impact tests.

A latch with a safety lock holds the pendulum in its raised position and assures a vibration-free release when activated. Once released, the pendulum quickly reaches the impact velocity of 5.47m/s (17.0ft/s) and has a maximum available energy of 542J (400ft.lbf) to impact the specimen.

The superior design and construction of the model IT542 ensures maximum testing accuracy and repeatability. When the machine is properly installed and levelled, the total frictional and windage losses during the pendulum swing are guaranteed not to exceed 0.5% of the energy range.

Model IT406

Tinius Olsen’s popular model IT406 is a pendulum impact tester that can be easily changed from a Charpy configuration to an Izod configuration. These testers are designed primarily for determining the impact resistance of metals and are designed to fully comply with the specifications outlined in ASTM E23, EN ISO 148-3 and EN ISO 148-2.

Model IT503/504

The model IT503 plastics impact tester, together with the model IT504, continues to set the industry standard for versatility, ease of operation and display of information with high resolution. The primary difference between the IT503 and the IT504 is that the model IT504 is supplied without the interlocking safety shielding.

These machines are capable of determining impact resistance using either a Charpy or Izod configuration, without changing the entire pendulum.

The user attaches the appropriate striking tup on the pendulum, and the specimen clamp or anvils in the base of the unit, to test plastics in accordance with ASTM D256 (Izod Impact), ISO 179 (Charpy Impact), ISO 180 (Izod Impact), ASTM D6110 (Charpy Impact), ASTM D4812 (Unnotched Cantilever Beam Impact), ASTM D4508 (Chip impact), ASTM D950 (Adhesive Bond Impact), and other similar standards.

Model SL – Compression Only

Tinius Olsen’s popular line of SL hydraulic testing machines is complemented by a series of compression-only test frames. These frames have the same robust design, quality materials and precision engineering as the tension and compression frames, but test in compression only.

The Tinius Olsen SL series stands out because of its accuracy, dependability and power. Its efficient footprint size and nominal maintenance comes from the patented dual low pressure hydraulic loading system, which delivers exacting control of movement when it is under constant speed, stress or strain rate control.

All SL systems meet ASTM, ISO, GOST, GB and other international standards in terms of accuracy. Accuracy is within or better than +/- 0.5% of applied force from 0.2% to 100% of frame capacity.

There are a number of interface options available in support of test productivity and user preferences: tethered handheld, wireless and/or virtual through the test, control and reporting software.
